The Counselor/Therapist is a full time position reporting to the Director of Student Psychological Services.
This position is a limited term assignment scheduled to end on May 31, 2020.
The counselor/therapist provides individual assessment, counseling and referrals for a wide range of personal and social adjustments concerns. This position assesses severity of psychopathology and develops treatment planning and case management. The counselor/therapist administers, scores, and interprets psychological testing, providing workshops and educational forums when needed. The position is responsible in maintenance of client records according to legal and ethical guidelines and standards and will consult with psychiatrists and administration when appropriate. They provide crisis intervention, and has emergency on-call responsibilities. The counselor/therapist participates in outreach, program development, training, and consultation with staff and faculty. This position will serve on university committees. This position will also require the ability to supervise. They will perform other duties as assigned.
Licensed master's level clinician or psychologist in California.
Demonstrated ability to provide individual, conjoint, group and crisis counseling.
Demonstrated ability to use tact and diplomacy and maintain high level of confidentiality.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Knowledge of psychological theory and testing, appropriate for a college population.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals in a university.
Proven ability to operate calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.
Skills in preparing and maintaining confidential records.
Strong analytical skills to provide excellent psychological evaluations.
Ability to learn and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines in records keeping.
Ability to learn and interpret university policies and procedures.
Ability to evaluate the progress of therapy and modify treatment when appropriate.
Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools.
Ability to design and conduct educational workshops.
Ability to supervise unlicensed clinicians.
