Serves as a liaison between the Central Pharmacy staff and the Pharmacy Operations Manager. Oversees the day to day management of Central Pharmacy. Contributing member of the Pharmacy Leadership team. Develops, monitors, and supports pharmacy practice services. Consults with medical staff and patient care providers as an advisor and educator regarding pharmacy services. Performs other duties as assigned.
Participates in the development, delivery, and maintenance of pharmacy services. Maintains adequate staffing, adjusts schedule to keep overtime to a minimum Participates on committees (P&T, QA, Medication safety), and covers for the Director and Assistant Director at meetings. Provides education to the pharmacy staff on process changes to improve workflow. Acts in a leadership role for pharmacy staff. Prepares pharmacy staff schedules, assists in securing pharmaceuticals during shortages. Assists as a staff pharmacist as workload and personnel shortage requires. Assists the Director and Assistant Director in all aspects of Joint Commission preparedness.
Louisiana licensed pharmacist, Bachelor of Science degree from a college accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). PharmD degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years experience in institutional pharmacy. Five or more years of continual pharmacy service preferred.
